Part number R5 and part numbers R6 and R6A, are for severely rusted cars. They have been developed to save these cars. They replace expensive originals and will also save a huge amount of installation labour compared to the use of the originals.

To begin with, you can count on saving the top sill which is supported by a very heavy channel referred to here as the back bone.

You can save as much or as little of the vertical section of the original inner sill as you like. Our inner sill (R5) is designed to lap on to the inside of what remains of the original. It contains a reinforcement surrounding the correct nut to attach your seat belts to. Then add an R6 or R6A or both and you have a much stronger sill section than the original!
