ALFA ROMEO 105 & 115 GTV PANELS |
The Bertone designed GTV coupe is one of Alfa Romeo's best designs: From the restorer's point of view it is a very strong construction and a very simple design to restore. From the owner's point of view it is a very satisfying car to drive and is also simple enough for most of the maintenance to be performed by the owner at home.
We are making just about all the panels for this car from the "beltline down", that is from the horizontal crease that runs from front to back about the upper middle of the car.

ROCKER PANELS - SILLS DISCUSSION:
This is one of the most rust prone parts of the body and its integrity is critical to the strength of the car.
It must be understood that this body is wider in the middle than on the ends. Thereby it is imperative that the rocker be curved the "long way" to match the door. Start by measuring the curve of the doors. Hold a straight edge up to the door on the horizontal plane and you can observe a 1/4 inch missing on each end. Build the car around a set of nice curved doors. This will give you that "Flying Saucer" look.
Part numbers 1,2, and 3 comprise the complete exterior rocker panel. Building this in three pieces allows the restorer to recreate the vertical seams in the rocker directly below the door openings. These are actually continuations of the vertical door opening lines.
